Just had new ruud heat pump installed 5 days ago, it blows cold for the first few minutes and then warm but not warm enough, called installer he said thats the way heat pumps work and he will stop out when he can, can u shed some light on this problem. thanks
In most newer operations, the indoor fan motor will come on first before the actual heat comes on. However if you shut off the power and Remove usually the upper panel. Located on the inside on the right hand side there is information that will tell you what the temperature rise should be between the supply air and return air.
Usually this requires a thermometer that you can insert about 5ft away from the furnace, for both the return air and supply air.
If the temperature rise calls the unit to be between 25 and 45 deg F, Adjusting the blower speed lower should give you warmer air maybe as much as 10deg, but 5 deg seems more probable
