This is an excellent tool, I have 3 myself and I've had similar issues. Here are a few things you can try.
1. Dewalt seems to have a glitch in the speed control slide on the top. I say this because with two of my drills I sometimes have to slide it from low speed to high, and then back again to get it to engauge.
2. I have also had to clean the contact points in the charger, as well as the ones on the drill.
No solution,but I have a dewalt 18v ,dewalt batteries are notorious for going bad.I live in Minnesota and if they freeze, there done.Lots of dewalts on the jobsite
Hi I had the same issue and it was because the brushes had worn out. I bought a spare set off eBay for about 5pounds. I then carefully took the drill apart changed them over - problem solved!
