If the battery on the motherboard dies, the date and time might not be remembered, but the BIOS should at least have default settings.. Have you pressed the "Del" key during Startup to change BIOS settings? This is a copy of the manual for that mb.. Start on page 51 to see how to enter the BIOS and make changes. There are some explanations of different settings.
