Its possible that you need reset the system with the factory code; unplugged the battery few minutes, conected the battery and enter the factory code.
It's usually on the left side inside of the trunk. Some owners remove that one and place a sticker inside of the glove box or write it in the owners manual.
The sticker in the truck is on the left side on the bar that raises the truck lid. If its there, it'll be easy to see.
If those options don't work, you'll have to go to a dealer and they have a way of obtaining it, but I am not sure how they do it.
If you are able to remove the door panel than you can access the key pad and replace it yourself. This is were the dealer will start and you can save almost $150 in labor doing yourself. The only bad part is if you break the panel they are not cheap to replace and you will not have saved anything.
First you pull the switch panel that has the window switches in them up.Then unplug the eletrical connectors.Than remove the screw covers in the pull handle and remove the screws.Than pop off the cover from the inside door handle.Than remove the following screws.
Than just remove the panel.Just look up at the key pad and remove the clip holding it and unplug and pull out and replace.
Also, if you need wiring diagrams, can login in autozone.com (free register) for access to this information in the chassis electrical section.

Technique 1 1. Make sure the drivers front(left front) door is closed and you have your car keys. 2. Insert your door key into the drivers door and turn it to the locked position two times. 3. Then turn the key to the unlock position twice. 4. The alarm should be disarmed, now.
Technique 2 1. If not then take the ignition key and turn the ignition switch all the way ON then OFF then ON a second time and OFF again. 2.These are the procedures for nearly all factory alarm systems.
If neither of these works you probably have an after market(add-on) alarm system.
This technique is only for use on your own car that you own and have keys for. If you don't have the keys- disconnect the negative battery cable to stop the horn until you get your keys. Then reconnect the negative terminal and proceed to step one.
Good luck and thanks for using Fixya.

I assume that you have the 2005-Mercury-Grand-Marquis Owners Manual, so I suggest check the page 86 and next for Keyless Pad.
Its possible that this accessory are with internal fault.
Good luck.
