Kitchenaid frozen bearing
My kitchenaid food mixer seems to have a frozen bearing. The motor is running and gettig hot to thenpoint of smoking, but nothing moves. I have taken it apart and checked the worm gear and the motor brushes. Both are fine. Going through the maintenance manual, a step at a time, I have doagnosed thatbitnis probably a frozen bearing. What can I do to fix this? Do I need to buy new bearings? Do I need to buy a new motor? To make things more complicated, I live in Brazil and this mixer was a wedding present from my deceased grandmother who bought it in the States. Kitchenaid Brazil won't touch it. Any ideas?

Hi Thaddeus, What model is it? If you have taken it apart and checked the worm gear surely you would have stumbled on the frozen bearing if one exists. When you split the gear cases you are in a position to turn everything by hand so any frozen part is going to be pretty obvious.
