LG LFX28978 Refrigerator, freezer not cold enough, maintaing temp at 40-41 degrees
Initially we had ice in the bottom of the freezer, which I removed but didn't have time to troubleshoot. Then icemaker had ice but was not dropping the ice which I troubleshot and determined it is not staying cold enough for the ice to drop. When began troubleshooting freezer, first indication was coils frozen/drain clogged. by the time I got to this, ice in bottom of freezer was melted and no accumulated ice on coils. Assume 40 deg temp in the freezer was the cause. Fan is blowing cool air and consistently 40-41 deg in freezer. Took back panel off the frig and cleaned fan, was very dirty. Still only 40-41 degrees in freezer and not ice. TIA

How did you remove ice from freezer. If you uses any type of tool (Scraper etc) then you have possibly punctured the evaporator tubes. These tubes can be either as a radiator type or form part of the freezer box and are very thin therefore susceptible to puncturing when using scrapers or such to remove ice.
To remove ice from refrigerator condensers allow it to melt, you can use a hair dryer to speed this up but DO NOT use mechanical means.
