OK - There is nothing that drives the door to close and stay closed. There is a little plastic gismo the locks onto a little protruding tongue in the lid keeping it closed. To release the lid, you must press the lid foreward so that it releases the lock in the little plastic gismo. I found this out only after removing the board above the main deck of the player and which, fumble-fingers me, I managed to damage the board and will have to replace it along with the little plastic gismo that holds the door closed. I am not sure if either of these parts are available as I have had the unit for quite a while. This leaves me in a quandry as I really did like the little player. It was a dandy. So, if you ever get an inquiry on how to keep the lid closed on a JMC_800, tell them to replace the little plastic gismo and that will do it.
