Light colored smoke comes from top of TV when first turned on
We have our TV in a box for about eighteen months...never used it until today. When I turned on the power switch, smoke comes out the top of the back panel and disappears when the power is turned off. Any suggestions? Thanks,
Bob

If it's like my problem with this set, the power supply gets really hot and essentially melts all of the contact cement they smear all over the PCB to keep things from coming loose. That didn't affect the set's performance and ceased after just the first few minutes out of the box. But recently, we had the same thing happen and I found that all four of 3300uf caps on the board had cooked-off, All of them were swelled and two of them had sprayed their liquid contents around their enclosure, creating the smoke.
I replaced all four of those, but the set will still not power up. I'm getting 120vac all over the "Hot" side of the board and nothing on the "Cold" side. How do I test the three PC817 optocouplers that separate the two sides of the board?
