Limewire firewall Seemingly out of nowhere, a firewall has come up on Limewire. I have tried unblocking Windows and Norton, reloading Limewire and nothing helps. I even updated to Limewire Pro and still can not get in. Any suggestions?
If you have recently got a new router, there would be a firewall on the router blocking the required ports for LimeWire to operate. To get around this, refer to your Router's user manual and find out how to access it and then unblock those certain ports. PLEASE NOTE: Do not attempt to unblock all the ports as this will increase the risk of getting your router and perhaps your computers infected with viruses.
If that is not your problem, you may be using and ISP (Internet Service Provider) that has blocked those ports as downloading music uses a lot of bandwidth which is a burden on them. If you have Satelite Internet, this is probably the case. You can try and resolve this by contacting your ISP and negotiating a price for them to unplock the port for you.
