When looking to replace a battery charger for a device there are four things that need to be satisfied.
Minimum voltage (usually 10-15% higher than the battery)
Minimum Amps (usually marked on the device in milliamps (mA)
The plug has to fit
The plug needs the correct polarity (is the center positive or negative)
Of all of these, the most difficult can be finding a plug that fits. There are 'universal transformers' out there with interchangeable plugs, variable power settings and reversible polarity.
A Radio Shack type electronics store is a sure thing. Priced at $10-15.00.
But on your way, if you pass a GoodWill type second hand store, they usually have plenty of transformers of this type priced at about $2.00.
