Lord of the rings: conquest for pc
The game installs perfectly, but when I try to run it, it says it failed to start because d3dx9_38.dll was not found. Please tell me what to do!

That is an error with a specific Direct X file. If you did not install Direct X 9 with the game you should run the install again and this time let it do the install. If you still have the problem, then got to Start, then Run. In the Run box type dxdiag. This is a built in program that will check all of your Direct X files and fix any that are corrupted. If after running that program, you still receive the error, there may be a problem with the game. You will have to contact the software publisher to get support to help you.
Normally when you install a game that needs Direct X, after the game install is finished, you will get a chance to install Direct X. You can still do all of the things I suggested. If you are not sure if you have Direct X, do a search at Microsoft.com for Direct X 9. You'll be able to download it from their site. That should give you a clean install. If for some reason you're not able to download it from Microsoft do a Google search and you should find a number of places that you can download it from.
If you have already run the dxdiag, I would then make sure that your graphic drivers are up to date. Double check the requirements for the game and make sure that you meet or exceed them. That particular game can be a bit of a memory / graphics hog. Then make sure that you have downloaded and installed any and all patches and updates available. If you're still having a problem then check the manufacturer's website for their forums. There may be fixes out there on other sites for your specific graphic card. Frankly if a game is able to load past the menu and you got through the loading bar, then something is getting switched on for your graphic setup that either your graphic card or your version of their driver doesn't like what they are trying to do. You should also check your motherboards site to ensure there are no BIOS or graphic slot updates.
