Lose of Master Harddrive
System loses track of master harddrive. If system is idle for to long a length of time, the system will try to reboot but will stall. A look at the CMOS and it will not locate the Master IDE but all other IDE items will show. If you disconnect all cable and power connections and reattach it will only then reboot. Got lastest bios update and still have problem. Downloaded harddrive diagnostic program and all harddrives check ok. Only the Master device is affected which is the system drive. Any thoughts. Thanks, Ellis.

Have a check with the BUS cable once try replacing the BUS cable which is connected to the HARDDISK .. there may be some problem in the IDE BUS CABLE...
you can fix that by replacing with the new one ...
this problem is not where related to BIOS ..
because if there is any problem in the IDE BUS CABLE means you will face this problem ..
there is one more case it is not oftenly seen actually ..
ie if there is any problem in harddisk means you will face this problem ..
normally the harddisk will work without any problem for 10+ years ...
in very special cases the harddisk failure occurs which is called as catastrophic failure ie the harddisk makes some hissing noise before when it attempts run , this problem may be due to some manufacture defect or if the harddisk is not being used for a long period of time (may be years) ...
so just have a check with things everything will be alright ..
thank you
