Lost power steering, then car wouldn't start
2006 HHR, first power steering sign came on! I drove 75 miles, lost power steering. Shut car off, then it wouldn't start. Midas guy jumped it with cables, took to shop, checked battery said it was fine. Ran a short diagnostic, couldn't find anything. I drove it home 75 miles, about 10 miles before home, lost power steering.....what is problem, and is it safe to drive to nearest dealer (75 miles?) What is problem! Also did not have radio once the Midas guy got it running!

What is the condition of the serpentine belt? Is the belt free of oil or coolant? Is the belt tensioner working correctly? If the spring inside the belt tensioner becomes worn. It can not apply enough tension to the belt. Also if the tensioner is corroded it can become seized and cause the same problem.
