Lwhen laptop is turned on it only gives a blank screen
My laptop starts up with the initial Toshiba screen then goes to a blank screen with a white dash in the upper right corner. No funtion buttons work...NOTHING works. I've tried to start it and run the recovery disk but this does not work either.

I am having the same problem with my Compaq. I boot up and I can hear it whirrling and doing its business but the image is blank. It lights up but no image.
