Magellan Roadmate 1470 screen froze at spinning clock
After an update to 2.20 and it working without the OneTouch menu at the top (it disappeared after the update!), my Magellan completely froze up to the spinning clock face in the beginning...never moves past that point. Any suggestions? I tried the sliding switch to reset at top of device which only shuts it off. Nothing seems to get it past this lock up. I've only had it about a week!

Same thing happened to me. It was working fine yesterday, until I arrived at my destination, then it froze and when I restart it, it stops at the spinning clock. I'm so mad at myself for not researching the update and finding out that this is happening a lot!!
I don't think I have my receipt. It will be interesting to see if Magellan charges me for THEIR mistake!
Same issue just today with my Roadmate 1470 - worked out of box no problems before New Year's Eve. Today, I tried doing the update from 2.05 to 2.20. Seemed to update ok - but when I turned off the unit and tried using it again, unit froze on startup (spinning clock). My unit was one with the on/off/reset slider button on top, 3 positions. There appears to be 2 different versions of the Roadmate 1470 available.
It appears that the 2.20 update is bad!
I bought the 1470 and worked great right out of the box. I charged it for about 6 hours + then decided to do the latest firmware update (ver. 2.20 release) from the website.
After the update the Magellan bootup screen just sits there forever with no way out. No menus, nothing. I tried cycling the power and reset to no avail.
I did the exact same thing with my 1440 Magellan and the update worked without a hitch. But the 1470 is either defective or a bad firmware update?
It seems to have turned into a brick after the update was ran?
I just updated my mom's 1470 and the same thing happened. It will not move past the spinning clock at booy up. I tried to reset it and nothing has happened. We only used it on the road for about an hour and now I may have to send it back. That stinks.
Once it freezes up, there's probably nothing to do but send it back to Magellan - call them for a return authorization. They were pretty prompt about replacing my unit when it froze. By the way, I installed 2.20 on my 1470 and everything works fine so I don't think there is anything wrong with that release. I wonder if there are issues with Windows CE.
I installed 1470 software update version 2.20 and the screen froze. Anyone learned anything new regarding this update? Wish I had checked out the problems others had before attempting this install.
