Magnavox 37MF231D switches off and back on every few minutes
Our Magnavox 37" turns itself off when the room temp reaches about 68 degrees, it comes back on after about 5 seconds but will do this continually unless we keep a fan turned on behind it, this started happening after about 6 months of ownership, we have to use the fan to cool it all the time now and the noise from it practically drowns out the audio on the TV, plus if the room gets hotter than 80 degrees or so running a fan behind the TV is ineffective. Any solutions out there? Thanks.

Its definitely a overheating problem, if the fan on the television is loud you need to replace the fan(s) with a new one. it will also improve the airflow possibly get it back to normal so you might not need the fan behind the tv.
If you are on warranty, note that replacing the part will most likely void the warranty, you could ask if your dealer or the company could warranty repair it for you.
if you are outside of warranty you could replace the fan with a matching model or with one that fits and has the right voltage requirements etc. You need to look at the old fan to find out its voltage etc. possibly even model reads on it.
If the unit is on warranty its definitely best to send it in for repair, you don't have to worry about repairing it yourself.
also working inside a television even when unplugged is potentially dangerous as some components may hold voltage even when the set is unplugged!
if the unit does't have a fan, well, it shouldn't require a fan behind it. I think its unlikely to be one capasitor or two, I think you better take it to a local professional that can test and find out what is causing the overheating, capasitors may be involved but its unlikely to be the only cause.
