Makita BJV180 cordless jigsaw. The blade jumps out of the round guide at the back and goes crooked to the left or right. How do I stop the blade from escaping its guide?
It's possible that the blade is not seating or seated properly, the guide is bent or out of alignment, or an incorrect blade length is being used. See my request for information, and supply an image.
Ah, those helped a lot. I can see from the one image that the guide pushes the blade forward, toward the teeth edge of the blade, and that it's not staying in the guide because the guide interferes with your seating the blade properly when inserting a new blade and tightened depending on it's resting position. This is the image I used. https://ibb.co/crxjpa
I've annotated the problem on this NEW image I made from the one you supplied.https://ibb.co/mt3QaQ
From this angle, the guide pushes the blade to the left, making it out of kilter.
This means that when the blade goes up and down, the bottom of the blade, because of it's angle isn't even in the guide, and if you're torquing or applying any side pressure, it won't seat itself. That guide either needs adjusted back, so it doesn't push the blade forward... or removed, as many don't even have one. This guide is acting like a fulcrum and, makes the blade misaligned depending on it's position when you insert and tighten a new one. I said in my first answer that one possibility was "the guide is out of alignment" and this appears to be the case. However it makes the blade out of alignment, which is the issue.
Hope this helps! Please indicate whether this shows the answer to your problem, please, even if it's something that you can't fix. Adjust guide, or remove it. I'm sorry, but if the mfr doesn't allow that; I would call them and see what they say.Ah, those helped a lot. This sounds like a good diagnosis oft he problem. I noticed than with I use the antichp insert Makita supplies the blade is up against it and kicks it out of the saw base. I will try to adjust the blade guide. Thanks for your halp. This sounds like a good diagnosis oft he problem.
