The port is female with a center pin, the male portion is on the charger. If you damaged this pin and it is loose you will need to replace the plug on the charger. Since these are very similar to some laptop charging ports, having a broken laptop around with same size charging port would be a bonus, or a friend with one too, but they are relatively cheap, I fix broken ones on laptops several times a year and can find a pair of them shipped for under $10 typically. Sometimes you need to solder them on, sometimes they connect with a dongle, should be easy enough to take apart and peek inside. Other wise, if that is beyond your expertise, does the charger have a cigarette lighter, you could likely charge it through that port, or with a trickle charger directly on the battery cables on the unit if need be.
