Hello. The malfunction light simply means that your car's computer is detecting an issue with one of the components. To find out what the issue is you have to have your computer data scanned. Lately many autoparts stores offer this scan for free as does AAMCO transmission shops. This is interesting because stealerships often charge 50-100 dollars to do a scan.
