Mantis 4 cycle (brand new): oil leaking out, smoking soaking air cleaner, quits running
Oil is leaking out and soaking foam air cleaner and dripping onto machine, smokes alot when under a load, runs for 15-20 minutes, then quits. what type of oil should be used? how much oil capacity? where can i purchase owners manual. thanks jt in illinois It's not necessarily worn out, because mine is doing the exact same thing (except that it doesn't quit) - and mine is brand new!. Oil leaks out on the right-hand side, dripping onto the "fender". This is associated with a lot of smoking and low power. Then it clears up and runs OK. Perhaps I have overfilled the oil? I had used the machine for a few hours (they filled the oil where I bought it), checked the oil, and thought perhaps it could use a little - only put a small amount in, but that is when this dripping started. Hope someone can help.

Sounds like your gas tank is not breathing properly. try this: the next time you run the tiller and it begins to stall out, try loosening the gas cap. It should start running again. This means that the gas cap is clogged. Unclog it or purchase another one.
