Miele Novotronic W 833 won't drain
My Miele Novotronic is 12 years old. It won't drain at the moment, this is the second time in 6 months I've had this problem.
There was nothing in the fluff filter.
Has anyone any idea what is likely to be causing it?

Hi,
if your washing machine drains into a spigot in the u bend under your sink you will probably find a blockage here. you need to remove the drain hose and have a look in the hole.
if not when you remove the fluff filter have a look in the hole and make sure the drain pump turns freely. you can also run a drain spin cycle with the fluff filter removed and make sure the drain pump is working.
I recently had a problem with the draining. The pump did not turn at all. I found the reason and fixed it. The reason was that one of the two thin single conductor red cables between the controller and the pump was broken just at a sharp bend at a fixing point to the chassis because of long term vibrations. I cut both cables and spliced afterwards.
Had exactly the same problem on our 12 year old Miele - thought it was a bit disappointing that the machine had only lasted 12 years! Took the filter out and cleaned it, did a 95 degree wash, ran a descale wash - still had the red light flashing. Then I removed the drain hose and found that it was completely blocked at the U-bend. Flushed it out and now it's perfect again.
