Mine runs OK on low for a few hours but then starts flaring and the whole heating element turns bright red with heat. I'm afraid it will melt or ignite the propane bottle

Does this only occur when the LP tank is near empty? If so that's why it's doing that. If that's not the case, the elements need to be replaced.
