Mitsubishi Projector DLP TV
Hi Tim, you responded to my question about the shiny areas and glassy appearance in parts of our picture and I thought maybe it was the lamp going bad but since they are so expensive I didn't want to buy one and then find out it might be something else. You said it shouldn't be the lamp but that if I provided the model number you might be able to help me. The model number is WD-73727. This morning I had to turn down the brightness and contrast. Our picture is a lot dimmer but better, nothing like it use to be just a week ago. It was sharp and clear. We bought the TV used, it's a 2006 model. You mentioned something about an extended manufacturers warranty. I assume it may only apply to the original owner?
I don't mind paying something for your information but at first I was just hoping for a yes or no answer on the possibility of it being the lamp. Today I notice now that the areas on the forehead and cheeks are glassy and shiny and some of the light background. If yoou can help it sure will be appreciated. Thanks again for your time and expertise............Don

This problem is covered under the mitsubishi extended warranty for the 73" dlp. I would try contacting them to see if they will cover it. Not sure how they will handel it because you bought it second hand. If mitsubishi will not cover the repair the first thing you need to try is removing and re-seating the dvi cable between the o-block and the chassis inside the tv. mitsu claims this to solve the problem sometimes but i myself have never had it work. the only other thing to do is to replace the optical block assy. this is an expensive part. let me know if you have more questions!
