If you are going to uninstall the device driver, do it from the Device Manager first then from the Add & Remove Programs.
Reboot
Install manufacturer provided driver before connecting the device as Vista will load an incorrect driver.
Vista has a mind of its own and always loads incorrect driver (in-box - Microsoft provided).
Uninstall driver, Disconnect device and reboot computer. Install the driver from manufacturer first then plug the equipment.

Uninstall all the drivers and then reinstall.
Hi there,
if its as old as all that, maybe a new driver would do the trick, download from here:

Uninstall other audio software and try to install each audio software one at atime and test it out before install another software
You are running it with the wrong drivers. There are updates availible to fix this . Also you might need to remove your other sound drivers. Hope this helps
Try this: Go to the start button, go to settings, look in the list and click on the control panel button, click on sounds and audio devices button, and under the menu, you will need to set the tempo/speed of sounds coming through the mobilepre. Then you need to save your settings. It should work regularly then.
Hello there. It sounds as if there is a sample rate issue. here is a link to the driver download page. Please take note to the vista, and vista sp1 options. download both and see which one (if either) works. There should also be a section in the device controls the manually adjust sample rate inputs. you may also want to insure that your audio card is configured properly to manage the audio coming from the preamp.
What it is, is just the media player you are using, lol, i get this problem all of the time and you dont have to worry, its nothing to do with your external drive, you have 2 choices.
1 - reinstall itunes and try again
2 - try playing your music in a different media player like Winamp for example

did you try the codecs i advised you install and did you try a different media player?
I think you have to face the fact that the device is not compatable with vista.
In my exprience with these "so called" vista compatible drivers, they don't allways work well.
Have a look and see if there is an updated driver for the mobilepre usb or run it in XP mode
regards
This is a problem of driver clashing.
Thanks
ok, download kodak for this problem and install to your computer that will sure fix your problem.--------

Ensure that the unit is installed with the proper drivers, try reinstalling drivers.
There is an issue with mobilpre and Vista.
If you connect mobilpre to a Vista computer, the system will automatically install the wrong driver for the device.
Plug the Mobilpre to one of the USB ports and then reinstall the driver, downloading the software from M-Audio website here.
After you do this, you need to plug the mobilpre always to the same USB port, or Windows wil reinstall wrong drivers again.
Did you reinstall the driver software, not Itunes, you need to reinstall the driver, downloading the software from M-Audio website here.
After you do this, you need to plug the mobilpre always to the same USB port, or Windows wil reinstall wrong drivers again.
This is normally the fix for this problem, Itunes has the driver for the Ipod not for Mobilpre.
Reinstalling Itunes has nothing to do with this, is a wrong solution.
Reinstall driver from reinstall the driver, software from M-Audio website
