MOBO on FIRE!
SYX Beast VIII Desktop PC - AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4GHz (Quad Core), Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, 8GB DDR3, 1TB HDD, DVDRW, ATI RADEON HD5450 1GB GFX, 15-in-1 Card Reader, Built-In Wireless N Running intensive graphics programs, try to open a video, spontaneous shutdown. Try to turn back on: POP! Chip on mobo is fried! Had to open the chassis and blow out the fire. Replaced mobo, same model. 6 months later- same exact scenario- same situation, same chip on the mobo. Any ideas?

It is so hard to say since there are so many variables and it depends on the job of that chip as well. It can be caused by an intermittent short such as one of the metal spacers shorting on the board but I'd expect it to fail sooner than 6 months. To be honest, I'd say it is probably an under-rated part on the board. If it is under warranty, try to get your money back this time and get a different brand of board. It will mean re-installing Windows but it might be the smart choice. I hate faults like this :(
