Moden intermittently loses the internet connection
I have the latest iMac. 24" screen, 2.93 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 gigs of memory, System 10.5.7. Everything was fine until I did an update to the Safari browser, which now puts Safari at version 4.0.1. When it loses connection the broadband line LED blinks on an off for about 10 seconds and then reconnects with a steady green broadband line LED. Then maybe another ten seconds it does the same again and may continue to do this for 10 or fifteen minutes. I have an SBC 2 wire modem and have had it for about 5 or six years. Also, I have Airport with a wireless connection from the computer to the modem. Eventually it goes back to normal with no further trouble. This doesn't happen every day. Could the modem be possibly the cause. I always leave the modem on. Or could it be the browser. I haven't tried any other browsers to see if that changes things. When normal the LED lights of the modem are green. When losing connection the broadband line LED blinks orange. The others remain a steady green.

There are many thing which could which can cause the same, but i dont think it is safari which is causing it. It is the cables or the router.
You need to firstly get the connection cables and RJ 45 pluge checked. the get option is to replace the cables to the router/modem and to the computer.
Still have issue... Call the service provider and get the router checked.
Thanks
