Monitor goes into power saving mode when booting, have tried monitor on another PC and it is fine, Have also tried video card and that is also working,The PC seems to boot up correctly [just going on sound}. The day before the PC reached this stage I had loaded Assasins creed which my card [Geforce 6600GT] only just runs but played for a while, Dont know if this is relevant. Dont know what to try next, does anyone have any idea which direction to go in next please? PS my PC is host on network and two other machines working online fine
Try going into the BIOS on boot and look to see if it is set wrong. To access BIOS, you USUALLY, but not always, tap the Del or F2 key once or twice a second while booting up. This depends on your BIOS and PC model. also, seem to me that if you move your mouse or hit a key the monitor should come out of power save. Try right clicking on the desktop and going to properties. Changing a setting(power options, screen saver, etc.) in there may fix the problem.
