Yes that is the trouble with these smaller compressors that are so cheap. I do not think it is possible to teach you how to check fuses and or switches if you are not experienced in electrical or how to use an ohm meter and volt meter. My advise is to find a local motor repair shop,, not the Dewalt service center. and again if the minimum bench charge is too much then I am sorry but it does not really pay to invest in the repair if a new one is $160.00. I do not want to sound disrespectful to your problem but this is why we term these machines "throw away compressors"
