My 1999 Yamaha Grizzly 600 4x4 cranks with the key and run switch turned off. As soon as I connect a battery, It cranks. But when I do try to connect a battery is sparks like something is wired wrong, however it still cranks when i do this. Therefore I cannot leave the battery on it. Please help!

Follow your red wire from the battery to the starter relay. make sure that the two posts don't have anything between them.
