My 2008 Equinox's traction control light came on the other day, by itself and said it needed to be serviced. In 2 days, it left. Yesterday, during snow, I pressed it on, and the car started to jump a little, it was scarey. How much would this cost?

The traction control light usually goes on when a wheel speed sensor is not sending valid speed signals to the traction control module, or the module itself is bad.
Modules can cost hundreds of dollars, or the wheel hub assemblies replaced to rectify a basd wheel speed sensor can also cost in the hundreds of dollars, unfortunately.
If it jumps a little in the snow, and the traction control light was off (indicating it was working correctly at the time), I wouldn't worry too much about it, as the traction control may be working properly at that time.
Was the jumping alarming making the car 'buck?'
The wheels may have been getting traction intermittently by hitting gravel or the road that didn't have snow and ice on it. This is normal.
However, if the bucking continues, I would have it checked out at the dealer if feasible.
