My 25cc homelite string trimmer starts and runs fine when the engine is pointed down and the trimmer end is up, When you try to put the trimmer down it looses power and quits. I have tried adjusting the low and high screws and replaced the gas line and gas filter
I decided to replace the gas line and filter and got the same result. I should add that I replaced the primer bulb and it is working fine. I should also add that once the engine quits it is very hard to start again. The unit is about 3 years old but didn't get much use last year. I had to run it on half choke last year and the year before but now it runs on open. I have found the engine flooded several times. Is there a chance that when I move the engine from pointed down to up that somehow the engine becomes flooded? FIXED! While I was typing I was thinking about the engine flooding and if fuel was going in but not coming out maybe it had something to do with the muffler so I removed the spark arrestor screen and what would happen is that smoke would come out when I raised the engine but after about 5 minutes of lowering and raising the engine it really took off. It now works better than ever. I decided to replace the gas line and filter and got the same result. I should add that I replaced the primer bulb and it is working fine. You either have a hole in your pick-up line or a restricted pick-up screen
