The issue in lcd these days is how well there power supplies are made and from what company there taken from hence manufacture. I will include a tip in here os you can see what we are looking for to determine a bad power supply or bad capacitors:
More often then ot one of these guys decides to puff up or blow out. These are called electrolytic capacitors. What happens over time is heat and dust, even power surges are evil to these little guys. Over time they just get weaker and weaker until one day your tv does not stay on or just does not turn on. We Americans tend to leave our TV's and equipment plugged into the wall, doing this allows current filtered or not travel threw the unit. This habit over time put allot of wear on the units components. So when tragic things like this happen we never consider to just unplug them or to plug them into a breaker/ or surge suppression device with a switch to turn it on and off. Not only to we waste money on electricity we suffer a tragic episode like you did.

Its called LCD common problems:
1. Bad capacitors
2. Bad inverter
3. Bad back light
Your case would be number 1 on the most common issue with LCD, even plasma TV's.

Unplug the unit for an hour to see if you had a power spike that messed with the system. System will reset when the unit is plugged back in...if thats the problem
If system does not reset, you likely have a Funai or other manufactured iLO (check the UL number on the back of the set for the manufacturer, then go to
I just want to say great website. It gave me the confidence to tell the TV repair shop that the problem was probably the capacitors in my ILO 42" LCD TV. He replaced 5 or 6 and I got my TV back in good working order again for around $100. I thought that was a bargin. TV repair shop was excellent getting the TV back in just a few days. Thanks for the help.
