My 85 mercedes has a dead battery and a smoky smell inside
I can jumpstart the engine and it runs fine. But the smoky smell persists. My mechanic kept it for 2 days and drove it around with the dashboard opened looking for electrical problems but could find nothing. I brought it home on Thursday, and on Sunday, the battery was once again dead. Anybody ever heard of such a problem?

The car may have a surface discharge which causes the battery to discharge on its own because the car just draws a little current constantly from the battery until it cant handle it any more. use a Midtronics powersensor micro500 tester this may help in finding out if it is a surface discharge or bad battery nothing else.
