Mine is now doing the same thing! Is there enough complaints to call it a recall? I have had my laptop for about 2.5 years now and I don't see why it should already need a new battery.
I have had mine since September '09. Mine stopped working two days ago. The day before that, I used my battery power for a good 4-5 hours. Plugged it back in overnight, and it now reads 100% charged and working normal, until I unplug the adapter. Then it shuts off. Will not start under battery power, but will with the adapter. Has ANYONE ever solved this issue? I have an extended warranty, and have already sent it in for unrelated issues (speaker crackling). I am at a loss how a battery can literally stop working overnight. I have worked for Dell for over 14 years and I have never seen a battery do that, ever.I have had mine since September '09. I can't solve the problem, I just wanted to say that I am having the very same issue with the same model of laptop. I believe we have only had it for about 5 months or so; we purchased it refurbished from TigerDirect so we were really shocked when we got it and it almost immediately started with lag... and about a week ago we started having this same issue with the battery. The computer will only stay on if the cord is plugged in. The icon on the screen has said for a week now that there is 43% battery life, but the battery is not charging. Any advice would be much appreciated; I'm not sure it's worth it to buy a new battery for $130 plus whatever shipping will be if this computer is still going to have issues (with lag or anything else).
I have the same model. Windows says the battery is "90% available (plugged in, not charging)". The battery wont charge. The laptop can only operate on AC power now....I have the same model. Same problem here and it just started. My laptop says 100% full but when I unplug it, is just shuts off. Got mine from Tiger Direct and is now out of warranty. Worked fine on battery one day, went to sleep when I was on a trip, woke up the next day and tried to turn it on using the battery and it would not go on without being plugged in.Same problem here and it just started.
