My BD HP-22 blu-ray player suddenly stopped playing all blu-rays. DVDs are fine. It either ejects the blu-ray disk or indicates reading is complete, then goes to a black screen. I already downloaded the update when avator wouldn;t play a few months ago, so this is different. I couldn't find any further firmware updates on their website. I tried emailing their tech support and never got a response

This indicates the laser has actually failed on the blu ray side of things. The lasers are very delicate and almost always go bad before the dvd laser. If the unit is no longer under warranty you are going to want to either sell it for parts or juts keep it for a dvd player. I am so sorry about that but it's defniitely not a firmware issue or software setting, it is definitely the actual physical laser that has failed.
