My Bendix BIW103W washing machine has stopped spinning properly. The water drains correctly and the machine starts to spin, but stops after a couple of seconds with a click. I've read it could be the carbon brushes, but I can't find replacements on the net! Does anyone know which carbon brushes I should buy? Also, I've read if it's not the brushes it could be the timer on the pcb so I might need to find a spare for that as well.....any help greatly appreciated!
Washing Machines - Tricity Bendix - AW1000W Front Load Washer
Timers can be expensive whereas brushes generally arent. First of all unplug the machine and tilt it over. You will see the plastic brush holders either side of the motor at the back. You need to prize them out carefully and check if they are protuding over the end. If they are they are probably ok. Then you need some fine sandpaper. Hold this through the brush holder gap and press against the coil inside. Turn the motor by hand thus cleaning it off. Then put it back together and try it again.
