My Browser My internet service provider said I should contact you and see if you can help me with my browser problem. She said to tell you there is a good signal from my modem and also good lights on my modem. She also told me to tell you I can ping www.charter.net. Can you help me? I am not sending this message from the affected computer of course as I am unable to get on the Internet
If you can ping an address successfully then the problem is either with a proxy setting or a corrupted setting in browser.
These instructions are for IE7:
Click Tools > Internet Options > Connections tab > LAN Settings.
Make sure that "Automatically Detect Settings IS checked. Also, make sure that "Use Proxy Server for your LAN IS NOT checked.
If there is an address in the Address box under that option, then you will to either need to erase the address before unchecking the proxy option, or temporarily check the option to use proxy server then erase the address and then uncheck the box again. Then click OK and close all screens. Then open Internet Explorer again.
If that works, great. If not try resetting the browser setting to default by following these steps:
Click Tools > Internet Options > Advanced tab
Then click the Reset button at the bottom. Then read the dialog that comes up and make sure that you are Ok with the changes that are gonna be made. If so, click Reset and the bottom of the dialog box.
After the process finishes click Close and then OK. After that close and reoopen Internet Explorer.
I hope this helps. Please remember to rate this information.
