My Canon pixma 2000 will not print black. I have replaced the ink cartridge still no print. I have reset the printer as per Fixa but now it tells me that the print head is not installed? Is it time for a new printer?
I would suggest that you download the utility "My Printer" for your Pixma 2000-is it the iP2000? if so, here is the product support page for your printer:
Once on this page, select your operating system from the drop down menu and you will see the file:
"My Printer Ver. 2.8.0" (save it to your desktop in a folder)
Once you download it, and after you open it, you will notice that the utility has a diagnose and repair function. (The printer must be connected to your pc via USB cable- this utility will not work on a wireless networked pc.
I would also download the on-screen manual for your printer here:
There are two on-screen manuals: One for Windows and one for Mac Os X
Also, here is some information from the support page for you printer and the error received:
Issue: Black ink does not print Solution: The Print Head may need replacing - iP2000
Replacing the print head The print head may need replacing if, after all print head and ink tank troubleshooting has been performed:
The nozzle test appears broken or to have horizontal white streaks. One or more of the colors is missing from the Nozzle Test. The colors are incorrect on the Nozzle Test. A print head error is indicated on the unit. The printer powers off when the print head is installed.
