My car is Ford Laser 1994 1.6 Carb. 3 days ago my car just stop when i was driving on the freeway. Long story short, until now the car is still having problem. I can start the engine and the car is working perfectly fine as nothing wrong, and then for about 5-10 minutes later, it stops. After about 1-2 hours, i can start the car again like normal and then afetr 5-10 minutes it stops again. It's been like that for over 3 days now. Can anyone, help me?
If yes, you need to get the car scanned and pull put the error codes. This scanning could be done free of cost at most of the parts store such as Autozone.
If not, ignition control module could be at fault. However, as you are getting spark and the car runs for few minutes, i doubt it to be at fault.Check the fuel filter.
You might just have a bad crankshaft position sensor. This is very common! The crank sensor can go bad intermittently and cause a stalling condition like you are describing...
Be advised that replacing parts without proper diagnosis would end up costing you more than taking the car to the mechanic. So, if you have any car repair experience, diagnose the above and then only replace the parts as there could be few probabilities.
You are likely looking for a failing ignition module which should be located in the distributor as an entire unit. Look at parts stores in your area for the unit and how they sell the product for replacement.
