Wait does that hard drive an external drive? try to put/connect the hard drive 1st b4 you turn on you computer... make sure that your hard drive is not set as primary master...
see the labels or details on the hard drive....

so after connecting the hard drive... turn on your computer...
if still the same problem occur try to reboot your computer and log in into safe mode (windows xp) by press F7 right b4 it loads the window xp logo...
do not chose to restore your computer...(pop up window that request to restore or not) just load it...
that should do the trick (note if the windows safe mode is requesting to check that hard please drive do so...)

Try with the different computer.. or else you need to re-install os keeping back up...
