if not your almost hosed... you need a new controller board for the drive or install the internal disks into a forensics drive kit. (i would take the drive to a recovery specialist. its cheaper than ebaying the parts needed). or just take the cover off and show the kids, display on the wall ect...
if it shows up in the Bios then try a bootable cd, (windows install disk will allow you to drop to DOS). from dos explore the drives
cd c:
should bring you to c:
mkdir backup
will make a directory called backup
cd d:
should bring you to d:
copy *.* c:/backup
will copy all files in the current directory to the C: drive to the backup folder. path through and get the files you want.
