My computers no longer recognize my external hard
My computers no longer recognize my Simpletech 320 external hard drive. I've tried it on two seperate computers. It doesn't sound like the external drive is is trying to "fire up" boot up like it usually does. I hear a couple of whimpers from it but it never really goes into full working mode. When I go to my computer, it is not there. I've tried plugging it in to the usb and then turning on and I've plugged it in while it was on. I've also tried to leave it plugged in and restart the computer.

Check to see if its still under warranty. Most times they have at least 1 to 2 years. If it isn't, I would remove the drive from the case and slave it to your system to see if will work that way. Doing that will narrow it down if its a drive issue or a USB issue. Good Luck.
If you system is a laptop, you would eed an adapter. If its a desktop, you remove the cover of the pc and either attach it to an existing IDE cable (if its an IDE) or if it is a SATA drive, hopefully your motherboard will have SATA connectors. Or if its IDE, (or SATA) you might be able to pull the cable from the CD or DVD drive and use that. Make sure you also hookup the POWER as well (its a 4 prong connector if ide or a small cable on sata) I know it sounds confusing, but its really not. Once you open up your external case you will be able to tell which controller cable it needs.
