My crosley dryer is making a terrible scraping noise. I lifted the top of the cover off and could see the drum. There are several scrape marks in a few spots. Obviously it is rubbing on the bottom. What is causing this? Something is also leaving burn like mark on my clothes. Is this because my drum is not stable and the clothes might be getting caught or something. They're like black rub marks
The first thing to check is whether there is something caught in the drum rim (both front and back). Feel around the circumference of the drum in both places for a piece of clothing or pocket item jammed in there. If all is clear, then most dryers have drum glides on the front that will wear. Those aren't expensive and not that hard to replace for the mechanically inclined. A bad rear support roller is also a possibility. To replace it , the drum will probably have to be removed. Drums aren't that hard to get in and out, depending again on your mechanical ability. Hope that helps
