My dad bought a new rex usa model #rx-1804 and the arm does not move up and down put a very small amount. its to low and i cannot put a needle in. how do i fix it? do you know of a book i can buy so that i can fix this machine when a problem comes up
I'm assuming that your talking about the needle bar (where you put the needle in) that doesn't go up high enough. The needle bar has a screw that secures it in place, and if you loosen it you will be able to slide up the needle bar high enough to be able to put your needle in. Now this bar does have a set height that it's suppose to be, so you'll have to set the timing of the needle bar when you loosen the screw. Loosen the screw, move the needle bar up enough to so you can put a needle in. Set it on wide zig zag. When the needle is on the up stroke the hook tip should pass behind the needle just above the eye of the needle. The hook is the piece the the bobbin case mounts on. If the hook tip faces to the right you have to time it with the needle on the right swing of the widest zig zag. If the hook faces to the left, just the opposite.
