My daughter is in grade 8 and they have to make a hoist - what materials do on euse - how will we join hoist - what methods will we use to strengthen the hoist - what constraints will we have and how will we overcome them
Your request is a little sketchy but here is a place to begin. Estimate how the total weight you want to raise. Purchase a rope rated for at least twice what you estimated. You will a need a frame and attach hardware capable of carrying twice the estimate too. Now it gets fairly easy: 1. two single eye pulleys with 100 pounds tension pulled 1 foot will raise 100 pounds 1 foot. 2. two double eye pulleys (2 loops of rope) with 100 pounds of tension pulled 1 foot will raise 200 lbs 6 inches. 3. two triple eye pulleys (3 loops of rope) with 100 pounds of tension pulled 1 foot will raise 300 lbs 4 inches. You should see the relationship. Please for her safety don't exceed the rating of any of the materials.
