I mostly teach how to fish and not give free fish. learn not look things up , your self, dig? 9 years old today the dell users manual seems lost at dell (they have issues) the service manual is there. shows this.

Connect the monitor to the laptop. Use a standard VGA-to-VGA cable. Plug one end of the VGA into the VGA-out port on the left side of the laptop. Connect the other end of the cable to the VGA port on the rear of the monitor. Turn the computer on. When it boots up try using the "F" keys along the top row of the computer keyboard. One of the F keys should extend the desktop to your monitor. (Other F keys may move the entire display to the monitor or make all displays go dark.)
