My desktop system suddenly does not recognize Maxtor One Touch III with 500GB Capacity drive. You can download and use the software which I uploaded for you. To recover your Maxtor please click here to download.
Download that software to your PC (Do not copy it on Maxtor which needs to be recovered.)
And run it from the pc to recover. Follow the instructions.
