My Dirt Devil Quick Lite plus vacuums very well on the hard carpet but will not pick anything up on a semi plush carpet. Is there a way to lower the brushes?
The belt may look fine but may still allow the brush roll to slip when vacuuming carpets, especially thicker carpets which cause more resistance to t he brush roll. Most vacuums are made overseas which means your brand new vacuum might have been assembled over a year ago. It spent some time on a boat, a warehouse or two and possibly on the store shelf fora few month. Stretch belts lose elasticity even if the vacuum has never been turned on.The belt may look fine but may still allow the brush roll to slip when vacuuming carpets, especially thicker carpets which cause more resistance to t he brush roll. First try replacing the belt. It may be stretched and not spinning the brush roll properly on the carpet.
