My dishwashing isn't filling properly. I think there is residue on the float "thingy" (located on the bottom right side close to the door) and it doesn't float like it should, so the dishwasher thinks the water level is correct when it isn't. How can I clean it and get rid of the gunk that is keeping the float from floating?
It appears you already have someone providing solutions on this posting. Unfortunately I am not able to see the responses.
It mgiht help if you can provide the full model number of the dishasher. The float should stay low to make sure everything is normal. If it not floating then that means in is in low position which should not cause dishwasher to stop filling. There is a spring inside which pulls the float down. When water fills the float starts lifting up with the water level until it balances the spring and a switch underneath closes telling dishwasher that water level is reached. It is possilble the spring is not working properly and keeps the float up.
I will need to look at drawing to find how it works for your model. Please provide the model number.
Please respond only once you locate the model number or want additional instructions from me. You can use almost any kind of calcium lime and scale remover in your dishwasher. pour some in the bottom of the unit let it fill and wash for a few minutes then stop it and let it sit about fifteen miutes then restart your machine.
This may need to to be done a couple of times to clear this out. there is also several brands of dishwasher cleaners out there that you can get from your local store or parts center.
