This player may need cleaning and it may be overheating with age. Try cleaning out the unit and the laser head. Use cotton swabs to clean the laser head with a small amount of isopropyl alcohol and using the swabs to clean the drive carriage and drive rails.Check for loose belts and gears try cleaning them off to remove dust and debris.you may want to apply a very small amount of lithium grease on the rails and gears to insure smooth movement. Do not use to much or you will cause more problems with the carriage being too lubed and moving too much. also try putting a fan on the unit passing air through the vents or moving the player to a area with good air circulation. If this does not help you may need to have the unit tested out for problems with the laser drive circuits and the carriage. Hope this helps you with your problem.
